The Beginning

How to begin? Maybe at the beginning . . . I have been sewing and doing other types of needlework all my life, at least since I was a freshman in high school. I am a terrible artist, can't paint or draw but love to create so needlework is a natural. Cross stitch, knitting, sewing even at one time ceramics. All were great ways to satisfy my need to create something. Did I do that every day? Not usually until . . . . . my first grandchild was born in 2002. . . .a little girl named Payton. 30 days after she was born I bought a new Viking Designer 1 sewing and embroidery machine. The rest of the story is I started sewing and knitting whenever I could. Now I have 3 more grandchildren, Jackson,7, Sydney, 5, and Brayden, 2. Now I really had someone to sew for! But still not everyday until I stopped working and had ALL day to work on projects.

When I moved back to IL from AZ, my granddaughters were playing with dolls, in particular the American Girl or Bitty Baby. I started making doll clothes and found a whole new interest. I was having so much fun creating those that I thought maybe I could sell them. I was also learning new ways of doing things. Little items are a super way to try something new.

I opened a shop on etsy.com LynMorr Doll Fashions. Still I wanted to do more, and my 3 favorite Holidays are fast approaching, Halloween (my birthday), Thanksgiving and Christmas. The embroidery machine is the most fun for making gifts. I wanted to share those as well so am considering another shop for bed, bath and kitchen items.

Now that I am sewing for profit, it became important to have the right fabric, the right tools, the proper patterns at the right price. i was creating some patterns of my own. I wanted to share those too as I know how difficult it is to always find what you need, even on the internet. Fabric stores are few and far between. Thus this blog. My goal? To share my creations, to share what I am learning, to offer some help to others and in return to meet new friends and learn from them So here we go!
