When I first starting making doll clothes, I wanted to knit as well as sew. Sometimes you just don't feel like sitting at the sewing machine. When I knit, I can watch a movie or my favorite TV show on Netflix. (another passion lol). Of course, you have to find patterns. The first few I made were pretty simple but not very much fun. Also they weren't exactly made for my particular dolls. I would measure, check gauge, etc. Still I wanted a little more. My patterns are still simple (can't watch a movie and work a complicated pattern lol)but I have adapted, added elements and created some new patterns. One of my favorites is this ensemble I created for Bitty Twins. Just because they are twins, I didn't think they had to be exactly alike.
The little girl's needed a picot trim and some ribbon so I took a picot trim from another pattern and incorporated it as neck, sleeve, and hemline into the pattern I had adapted for him, just threaded the ribbon through. I find many preemie patterns can be adapted for dolls. That discovery opened up a whole new world of choices, especially for the baby dolls. Lots of patterns for the bigger 18" doll but not much for Bitty Baby or Bitty Twins.
This one of my offererings in my etsy shop as Bitty Twins Ensemble. If you would like these patterns posted, just let me know. Or I can email it to you.
