Good Morning, Busy day yesterday. Finished 2 embroideries and made 2 samples. When I am going to use an embroidery file that I have never used before I always make a sample first. I learned that lesson the hard way. Not all embroidery files are good ones. Unfortunately. I also tried something new. It is amazing to me what you can find on the internet. It is MORE amazing what you can't find! I wanted to do a lace embroidery directly on a towel. I have a lovely set of Holiday lace embroidery files that I thought would make a pretty set. Everywhere I looked was about free-standing lace. Make it and then sew it onto a towel, pillow or whatever. I didn't want to do that. I had an extra towel but no sample towel cloth so I thought why not just try it? I did, and it turned out quite nice. I used a sharp needle instead of an embroidery needle, stabilized the back with cut-away, the front with a heavy Solvy and set the machine to stitch much more slowly than usual. The only problem I saw was the difficulty of getting all the heavy Solvy to dissolve. I believe I will have to wash it rather than the usual method of just using a wet cloth. Now all I have to do is stitch on the ribbon.
