Lace, Ribbon, and Fringe

Good Morning, I have been embroidering towels, both bath and kitchen, and pillowcases for a new section of my online shop. Right now I am doing mostly seasonal things for the upcoming Holidays. When I first started machine embroidering, I just felt happy with a good embroidery finished. Now I think embroidery on a towel or pillowcase isn't finished until I trim it.

My daughter and I had a mini discussion via texting last night. I sent her a picture of a project I finished yesterday, beautiful red pillowcases with the best snowmen on them. I trimmed them with eyelet lace. Expecting kudos, however, her response was "not a fan of eyelet lace, but super cute anyway". Humm I had finished a Christmas towel and had trimmed it with a Christmas fabric ruffle. Same response. OK now I am 0 for 2. I really only meant to send her the 1st picture but I had to know so sent her 2 more pix, each item had a different trim. Better she said, 1 had a Halloween ribbon, the other a funky ribbon with colorful tiles on it. Next she said fringe or maybe satin ribbon. Fringe on towels, why didn't I think of that?

So now she has my creativity juices flowing. I guess I was stuck in a rut. My projects were better than before but still not all that creative. I will still use my good old standards for they are nice projects and great gifts but I am going to try and incorporate the unusual into some of my projects and see how they turn out.

I have 3 towels with wonderful Art Deco wine embroideries that are just sitting there waiting to be finished. I think I will start there. I knew that what I had in stock wasn't right for those towels but didn't know what direction I was going to go. She really got me thinking out of the box. When I finish them, it will be show and tell. You can be the judge.

Would love for you to share ideas.
